Agudas Israel founded Schonfeld Sq. some eighteen years ago and it provides a therapeutic and stimulating environment for peope with Alzheimer's disease and general debilitation. Two satellite organisations under the aegis of Aguda are Beis Rochel and 30 Dunsmure Rd. These provide supported living accomodation to people with mental health problems. Beis Rochel, 52 Lordship Park, is a double fronted house comprising nine individual flats with cooking and bathing facilities as an integral feature in each flat. Beis Rochel provides a therapeutic environment with an individual programme designed for each tenant. The atmosphere is open and trusting with the relationship between staff and client based on being truthful, non-judgmental and accepting. All clients are encouraged to think about moving on and this process is facilitated by staff input to each individual client and by providing the necessary skills for independent living. 30 Dunsmure is located in the heartland of Stamford Hill and provides supported living accomodation to seven men. Again individual support is provided to clients and outcomes demonstrate the successful results this approach is having.
