To provide a warm and welcoming environment with total confidentiality in a room with others who are in the same situation. To provide a listening ear for emotional and practical issues and to offer suggestions and help for dealing with these. To show that in time it is possible to function well in this new, perhaps strange, world. Both men and women who have been married for a long time (or with the same partner) may find that the world on their own is quite different and in some cases rather frightening. Members are encouraged to exchange their stories - not only of illness and sadness - but also practical tips for starting life anew, their own discoveries and to celebrate their small triumphs, thus
demonstrating how it is possible to grow during this process.
